Emulsifying acid minimises acid contact with the tubulars during placement, affording them significant protection. Once placed, the emulsification of the acid retards the rate of reaction within the formation, improving wormhole development and thus production.
SAE-05 is typically used in a 70:30 acid to hydrocarbon ratio and dosages should be tailored to the type of hydrocarbon being used.
