TORT, Total Oil Recovery Technique, is a low density water-based gel solution that offers non-invasive recovery of attic oils for cleaning and decommissioning operations.
As an immiscible fluid, TORT does not mix with the recovered oils allowing for easy separation and recovery.
The system uses a lightweight fluid for oil displacement that can be pumped directly from reservoir tanks or batched between two EVO-Pigs.
Oil trapped in higher locations is replaced by the inert fluid, maximising recovery and minimising the risk of uncontrolled hydrocarbon release.
A common issue faced when cleaning a pipeline is that flushing water often doesn’t work. Because oil is lighter than water, it can often sit in offtake lines or in highpoints within the pipeline.
TORT is a water-based gel solution that is effectively cleans pipelines. Because it is lighter than oil, TORT will displace in any cavities and attic sections above the main flow, successfully recovering the oil and leaving the line clean. Because the gel is immiscible with oil, there is a high level of separation making it easier to treat after recovery, minimising the amount of slop or oily waste produced.
