Kontane is a low density nitrogen foamed gel used to evacuate hydrocarbon gas and capable of stabilising NORM scale and other particulate matter, prior to the safe removal and return to shore of process equipment and structures.
Kontane builds on known and existing technology. The low density gel is filled with nitrogen bubbles that create a blanket, preventing vapour build up.
This approach allows for structures to be cut without any harmful gases being released, meaning the pipeline can be brought back onshore for cleaning and decommissioning.
